twilight shades of blue

when winter turns a grayish blue
deep frosty hue
strong gripping cold
takes aching hold

in twilight shades of frosty rime
sharp etching time
marks frozen lanes
as daylight wanes

in seeking solace and relief
it’s my belief
I might be best
in my own nest
