The Poem That Defies Naming

by Y. M. Roger

I can’t say if dragons dream
 or to what extreme
 they’ll plot and scheme...

I can’t read from satyrs’ sighs
     if they’ll tantalize
     or simply tell lies...

I can’t forge heaven or hell
         where brash creatures dwell
         amidst chants and spells...

             I can’t guess a mermaid’s mood
             or what to conclude
             ‘bout her snide attitude...

I can’t speak for teasing trolls
                  and how many souls
                  haunt their treasure scrolls...

              I can’t explain deepest fears
              when a smile appears
              with or without tears...

         I can’t judge a leprechaun’s laugh
         or on whose behalf
         they’ll give autographs...

I can’t claim that fairies flirt
    and are extroverts
    who won’t eat dessert...

I can’t predict you’ll find love
if you’ll soar above
making bonds thereof...

  I can’t...but I could...and just might
let my muse and pen write

ALL these dreams to excite...

  YOUR IMAGINATION
