Grief Leads to Open Doors

by A. Willow Bends

the stages of grief should occur
as we should defer gently to the pain of lost love
similar to the death of a loved one
for, in essence, there is a void, a loss
we cannot toss the feelings aside
but must deal with them
painful though it may be
we must work to be free of the tearing
so we can move on

all should understand this
no real bliss comes with love's end
a true friend will empathize
realize we need time to grieve
I believe this as I have lived it

forgive and find a place to store your thoughts
where you can pull them out at will
when your mind and body have calmed
to a trained and regained stillness
do not rule out loving once more
doors are meant to be ventured through
and you? you are born to adventure

so grieve as you may
reach for that brighter day
of reciprocated love
mending the tear, wiping the tear
facing the fear
and reaching for that unopened door

When Love Dies writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a poem of any length or style about the ending of love. What happens when feelings change?

Cleo85, the master of photography-thanks for the visual

While I didn't necessarily WANT to compare loss of love to loss of a loved ONE, for the person who loses someone in a love relationship and does not want to, it is somewhat similar to a death, not having that bond anymore or being "in" the life of their loved one.

Note: "tearing" in the poem can either be as in "tears we cry" or "tears as shown in the picture of the flower" Both occur within and externally when love dies, in my personal opinion. Perhaps I should have titled this TEARING? Mmmm?
