Small But Brave

by Connie Frazier

The red-bearded Viking was small but brave
Spear in his right hand and shield in his left
He ventured jauntily out of his cave

With a quick smile, a nod, and a wave
His arms mighty strong and hands nimbly deft
The red-bearded Viking was small but brave

His name was long. We called him Dave Gustave
Delightful guy - always quick with a jest
He ventured jauntily out of his cave

Banana ice cream was always his fave
At hopscotch and chess he was always best
The red-bearded Viking was small but brave

Supremely polite and never a knave
One of the nicest guys you've ever met
He ventured jauntily out of his cave

Once slayed a monster who wouldn't behave
And put his sharp fangs in a wooden chest
The red-bearded Viking was small but brave
He ventured jauntily out of his cave
