A chapter in the book Poems

Falling Sorry Apple

by Bill Schott

I wrote a poem by the poet-tree

when an apple toppled down on me,

it landed on my head, you see,

on its way down to the ground.

On its way down to the grassy ground,

an apple tapped my curly crown,

but I just could not wear a frown

for the fruit apple-o-gized.
