The Bishop’s wife was Indiscreet
She’d sneak out, Night and Day to meet
Her lover, Mr. Lucky, who
Was said to be a smart gumshoe.

Said His Girl Friday, “but because
The trap he set To Catch a Thief,
Backfired; he quit, awash with grief."
 
The thief he’d caught was lover, Ruth!
And when he learned The Awful Truth
That she’d deceived him all along—

He said, “A bad mistake I’ve made;
