Heavy metal rock/two male voices
Did You Hear [the Sky Just Fall]?
by Y. M. Roger
Lyrics Duet Contest Winner
[strong, smooth voice … upbeat]
Walkin’ ‘long the beach, I heard a song
‘Bout a hundred million voices strong
It called to me from beyond the waves
Better run now ... it’s the end of days
[just the entrance solo voice]
Did you hear the sky just fall?
And was that your voice within the call?
Time’s journey’s over and
to me it’s just as well
No need to worry now…..the sky just fell
[deep, smoky-blues voice … forboding]
The waves they have no voice, you see
We’re calling from inside ev'ry heartbeat
For we alone know what’s coming tomorrow
Your dreams and plans will all end in sorrow
[both voices together]
Did you hear the sky just fall?
And was that your voice within the call?
Time’s prophet broke the tablets
shattering the spell
No need to worry now…..the sky just fell
[strong, smooth voice … warning tone]
I fell to my knees, the cacophony deaf’ning
From within and without, I heard them beck’ning
[deep, smoky-blues voice … singing out]
And the sun grew hotter ... set the world on fire
The sky came to earth ... to light our funeral pyre
[both voices together]
Did you hear the sky just fall?
And was that your voice within the call?
Time’s no longer ours
got a new place to dwell
No need to worry now…..the sky just fell
[both voices together … stronger]
Did you hear the sky just fall?
And was that your voice within the call?
Time’s no longer ours
got a new place to dwell
No need to worry now…..the sky just fell
[deep, smoky-blues voice solo - intermittent guitar at start of each line]
Have your ticket ready
‘cuz we’re headed straight to hell
No need to worry now…..the sky just fell
[music only here...strong guitar riff w/ single-note end/fade out]
[strong, smooth voice solo … slower, a capella]

As stated in the tag line, this is written as a heavy metal rock 'ballad' for two male voices -- nothing sweet and gentle about this one. :) :)
