Life of a Dog when the cat moves in!

The Life of a Dog (and the cat)

by Mimi Linny

"She thinks she's all that,"
Whined the dog 'bout the cat
"With her uppity-whiskers held haught!"
"While she sashays her tail
On such arrogant scale
The queen of this castle, she's not!"

"When they brought her first home
She was furry and cute
And I thought that this fuzz ball of fur
Would settle right in
Think me almost as kin
And I'd be a "Big Brother" to her!"

"So I tried to be nice
Sniffed her once - maybe twice
And as humble I thought I could be
I offered to share my most favorite chair
Where she sprawled flat with no room for me!"

"She strutted and sauntered
And ever so smug
She curled up in front of the fire
When I moved in too close
She just clawed at my nose
So now near her, I have no desire"

"My bone is quite soggy
From kitty-kat drool
She smelled it then snuffed it aside
Should I be considered
A doggie-dumb fool
Or has she just injured my pride?"

"Yes I've done everything
I can think of to share...
Even my bowl  (by-the-way)
But instead of just water
That comes from the tap
She'll only drink pure Perrier!"

"And try though I may to be civil
My patience is wearing quite thin
Do I stand on my laurels and re-stake my claim...
Or just cringe like a wuss and give in!"
