House left to decay.

Please come Home

by Aussie

My shutters bang back with wind
Eyes on the world misted panes
My roof leaking, noise never to rescind
Family left long ago in pouring rains

Everyday I strain to see people walking
Loneliness breaking timbers apart
I hear small children talking
Blind to their stones and their dart

Please come home
Family of mine
I am so alone
Water, tears of time

One day family with many cares
They were staring at my plight
Next day they climbed my stairs
Broken porch which gave fright

Nails and hammers fixed my face
Clean windows so now I see
Shutters painted, curtains with lace
A new roof, how proud I be

Brightly painted house on hill
Lit from inside, merry face
Family laughing, joy, never still
Hard to keep up the jolly race

Fire dancing in my heart
Christmas coming soon to be
Never sad I be, home so smart
Family lives as part of me.
