Christmas Cymbals

by A. Willow Bends

clomping, stomping down the wooden stairs
stampeding towards the glare of the Christmas lights
carols blaring on this morn . . . my heart is torn
my toddler . . . past the gifts he ran
to kitchen cupboards
for the metal pile of pans
Crash! Bang! Boom!
Christmas cymbals!
