A Tale Of Mother's Love
The Sacrifice
by prettybluebirds
Circling and swooping. Diving and cussing. The barn swallows harass their nemesis, the cat.
Blossom, the cat in question, saunters unconcerned with her tail held high to taunt her small tormentors.
The swallows fly ever lower as desperation overrules common sense; a baby swallow is on the ground ahead. One brave swallow drops close to peck the cat on her head.
Blossom leaps.
The baby swallow will live at the price of his mother's life.
