Recalling Disco Days

Disco Flashback

by A. Willow Bends

splintering, glittery flashes from the disco ball
out on the floor
with shiny satins
movin' to the disco beat
feet slidin', kickin', glidin'
arms akimbo
men in heavy chains . . . chests adorned
women torn between jealousy and gyrations
wallflowers stationed in the shadowed recesses
but the beat pulls them in
grins and spins abound
an era of bygone, crazy, hazy nights
