Around the first of October, an apparition appeared to me on FanStory. A spooky ghost named Boo! Mysteriously floating through the pages of my writing, leaving a few clues, but no fingerprints. He was not of this earth.

He became a fan and I returned in kind. New to our writers forum I said to myself.

Tempted me yesterday with my weakness, a contest. But not just any contest, tanka poetry.

He knows this is my great flaw. For no poetry is mine, only stories. I felt studied, lured like an innocent pup with a chew toy! Oh, the wicked offering! I bit and here I am.

So today, I respond with poetry and pen. And, to Boo, I dedicate my first tanka offering.

Tanka poetry:
Line 1 - 5 syllables
Line 2 - 7 syllables
Line 3 - 5 syllables
Line 4 - 7 syllables
Line 5 - 7 syllables
