Yellow Rose of Survival

by Lady Jane

single yellow rose
'tween weathered journal pages
cancer-free vestige

5-7-5 Poetry Contest contest entry

Image is my own.

Vestige: most likely to apply to a tangible reminder, such as a fragment or remnant of what is past and gone.

Joy can mean many things. For most, it comes with smiles on little one's faces, the right meal with mr. right, or living out 'bucket list' scenarios. But, for many, joy is found in the darkest of places...for my friend, joy came with the news, CANCER'S butt had just been kicked. This single yellow rose I gave her way back when signifies the joy in living one more day --- CANCER FREE, until now :(
