I Always Thought

by Idamarty

I always thought there'd be more time,
Time for all the simpler things,
Things we said we'd always do,
Do but cruel life clipped our wings.

Wings that held our cherished dreams,
Dreams of two old people there,
There where we'd just sit and chat,
Chat as if both unaware.

Unaware that way back when,
When hope still lived with seeds we'd sown,
Sown with love by me and you,
You went home now I'm alone.

Alone to pass the days away,
Away is where I long to be,
Be with my best friend again,
Again for all eternity.
