Freedom Calls....

Roam From Home?

by Boogienights

My parakeet, he tweets!
I tweet....
My Twitter followers like him fine.
They love his colors yellow, green,
his disposition, sweet and kind.
He tweets to me about his hopes,
his dreams of one day flying free.
I can't believe he'd want to go,
he'd be so lonely without me.

His two story cage is fully equipped,
with all a modern bird would need.
A perch, a bell, a cuttlebone,
the finest pricey organic seed.
His days are spent so leisurely,
well protected from the cat.
If he got out he'd be a meal,
and that my friend's a given fact.

So why his tweets? I want to know.
My followers say let him go!
Just open up the cage door wide,
and let Sir. Tweetford step outside.
The pressure soon became too much,
I think perhaps my mind was touched.
I ripped the cage door from its frame,
I'd miss him, it would be a shame.
But then Sir. Tweetford calmly sat,
he didn't move and that was that.
He tweeted "There's no place like home",
"I like it here, don't want to roam".
My Twitter account is now shut down,
So happy he is still around.
