What's the Point?

by Amanda Carlucci

Lonely Poem Contest Winner
I tell my husband, this is what I need.
You're wrong, he replies, just be normal.
I tried.

I tell my stepson, this is what I need.
You're wrong, he replies, get over it.
I tried.

I tell my daughter, this is what I need.
You're wrong, she replies, no one needs that.
I cried.

I write in my journal; still no one hears.
There's no one left to tell.
This is all I need.

I post my needs publicly; my family is mad.
Hey! they replied, you should have told us.
I tried.
