A chapter in the book A Potpourri of Poetic Curiosities

Poor Ana

by CD Richards

I am alive, but once was dead,
those are the very words she said.
I had to ask just what had led
her to this strange psychosis.

Well since you ask, I'll tell you that
it's common in my habitat;
and since you now know where I'm at—
My name's Ana Biosis.

Today's word: anabiosis (n.) a revival, a coming back to life.

My much-treasured Christmas present for 2017 is a book by Paul Anthony Jones: "The cabinet of linguistic curiosities". Each page contains a descriptive story about some obscure or archaic word. It occurred to me it would be a fun exercise to try and write, each day, a poem featuring the "word of the day" from the book.

Thanks for reading.
