A Sonnet

How short life is . . . for some

by Dolly'sPoems

I have no one to blame if frowns consume,
as sorrow's lengthy claws and firm strong grip,
can sometimes strip the colour from the loom,
suck life from ev'ry bone to reach the quick.

No one escapes death's cruel and final hand,
we hope that life is long and true and good,
so when we hear the sound of the command,
concede to fate is what we've understood.

But if a life is snatched when in its prime,
the ruthlessness can damn a loving heart,
as what we ask of life is to have time,
to witness seeds that fruit and start to chart.

For all those souls who lost their life when young,
my prayers are with the loved ones to be strong.
