Of The Past

by country ranch writer

It always warms my heart when I come in sight of my home town. Oh! Just the beauty makes my heart skip a beat. Access for some requires a hike or a horseback ride to reach it. Since no road goes into the wilderness, it is not for the faint of heart. If they are scared of spirits, they should shy away from the area.
Still standing is my Great Grandpa's old homestead and remains of the old still (parts) can be found along the creek beds. If you listen closely, you can hear the people right around nightfall planning their schedules for shine deliveries. The things I treasure most of all are my journals I kept while living with my Great Grandpa and Great Grandma up there on the hill. Great Grandma was a terrific cook, she used only cast iron, to cook in, fixing fried chicken, and black-eyed peas.
