I Imagine that very moment when
into the endless void He stared,
and spoke four startling words aloud.
"Let there be light!" the Lord declared.

It seems I'm in the darkest cave
that's bitter cold, pitch-black and vast.
Then suddenly a brilliance bursts,
illuminates, leaves me aghast.

Then placing Light between His palms,
God rolled it round till it became
a molten mass of fiery dust.
"I call this Sun!" He did exclaim.

And as I watched, the Lord exhaled.
His breath drove darkness far away.
"Where it still reigns I shall call Night."
He lobbed the sun. "But this is Day."

Alone with God before there's Time,
when all we know first came to be,
as He began the universe,
I see the dawn of history.
