Seventy four

The sun still lies behind the hill
the birds and cars end morning's still
Red groans aloud and tries to rise
behind the hill the sun still lies.

He hobbles out on sandaled feet
his twenty-seventh K dawn to greet
his lame dog greets him with a shout
on sandaled feet he hobbles out.

He thanks the Lord, he sighs with dread,
too short's the road that lies ahead
to shattered wheel and broken cord
he sighs with dread, and thanks the Lord.

Sol burns away the morning fog
Macgriddles wait for Red and dog
'tis grand to see another day
and morning fog Sol burns away.

Messages say happy birthday
from FS friends so far way-
they bring fine gold into the gray!
Happy birthday, messages say.

Read Ecclesiastes 12:6 KJV for more on that cryptic line.
Thanks for remembering, y'all.
27K dawns would actually be 27,028 dawns.
