The Greater Good

by Janet Foor

Bright stars align across the evening sky
to welcome in a steamy summer night.
Young lovers share a sweet caress and sigh
beneath the glowing of their silv’ry light.

The giant orb appears and rises high
above the couple locked in love’s embrace.
Their world stood still but time just seemed to fly
and blur the Milky Way to ancient lace.

But in the midst of nightly bliss, a gust
of wind sends clouds to cover ev’ry star.
Each vanish into space like bits of dust
exposing rampant storms both near and far.

The trials of life are seldom understood
till time and space reveal their greater good.
