Imprisoned

by Eternal Muse

The seed of love, when planted in your heart,
will grow by leaps and bounds until mature.
Like ink on paper, from the very start,
cemented in your mind without a cure.

Infectious to the core, it eats your brain,
consuming all your energy and fire.
You fight, you try to quash it, but in vain -
can't thwart the raging lava called desire.

And yet it's now a vital part of you,
psychology and Freud be damned - it rules!
You wish your poet's sky was always blue -
but blue skies are the lot of smitten fools.

Imprisoned by your love's metallic bars -
it is a verdict of your judging stars.
