When my son began seventh grade, the music teacher recruited him for the Middle School band and let him choose an instrument. He picked the baritone, and borrowed one from the school. Soon I found him in his bedroom, headphones on, eyes closed, and listening to Sousa marches. Later, when he learned to read notes and MAKE his own music, he became enraptured with melodies he could duplicate. That love for music left him Tune-Struck all through high school and college and even now years later.
I hope this short poem gives you an idea of what I used to see when I peered into his room.
