Choosing a name.
A chapter in the book A Life In Your Pocket
Fiery Red
by Heather Knight
Background Barb and John have just had their first baby. |
'So what do you think we should call her?' John asked after a while.
'You choose. You know I wanted a boy, anyway. As long as you don't call her Pat, I don't really mind.'
John tried to ignore the jibe and smiled good-naturedly. He wanted a peaceful life and he had learned the hard way that he must keep his opinions to himself.
'You know I like flower names. What do you think of Poppy?'
'Too showy, but go ahead. I'm too tired to contradict you.'
And it was that exhaustion that decided the round-faced baby's name.
