The day I was born

A son's dream

by Neonewman

Last night I dreamt, of my birth in nineteen sixty-four
I was cold, wet and scared unlike the months before
My little lungs filled with air and I began to cry
I couldn't seem to comprehend as I was lifted high

It's a boy; the man replied as he held me upright
I struggled but was no match; I wouldn't win this fight
Then a whisper caught my ear, one I'd heard before
Sing to me as each day passed, one I did adore

Lying in her loving arms, I gazed into her face
I was overwhelmed with love; as she's my saving grace
I gently drifted off to sleep as mother sang to me
No other place in this old world, that I'd rather be

Fifty years have now slipped by; quickly it did seem
Many nights have disappeared since I had that dream
Every day I thank the lord for there will be no other
that could ever take the place of my precious mother

My mother has the most beautiful soul. She is kind, loving and adores her family and friends. She is one of the most selfless women I know. She treats everyone as she has known them for years.
I love you Mom!
