The life of an old soldier

Old Soldier

by poetwatch

I am an old soldier
who will not admit defeat.
I have fought many battles
but still stand on my feet.
I have killed most of my enemies
and conquered the Queen of the Ball.
You look at me and do not see
that I am a man who still stands tall.
My body is scarred,
and those scars you may see.
The scars in my mind and my heart,
only belong to me.
Yet, I'm an old soldier,
and you have forgotten me.
I still have to fight one more battle.
Win or lose, we will see.
