Telling a Millennial Good-Bye

by Reese Turner

Get on the road!
Road? O.K. but to where?
Where it might take you…
You don’t really care?

Care not a bit, I demand.
Demand? That I just go?
Go and find your future!
Future? Must I now know?

Know about work, love and life,
Life is what I’m missing? When…
When sleep and text is all there is!
Is it so wrong to just sleep in?

In what work shall I do?
Do whatever. Find what will fit.
Fit my pocket? Got any change?
Change? Your own dollars get.
.
Get real. It’ll take a while…
While I’ll be waiting here…
Here will always be my home.
Home is here, but later, dear.
