A triolet

Katie at Ten

by Debra White

Hormones hurtle through the air
Adolescence raging war
Tears and tantrums from nowhere
Hormones hurtle through the air
All at once life isn't fair...
Placid little girl no more
Hormones hurtle through the air
Adolescence raging war

My daughter, Katie, is ten. She has started puberty and her moods are all over the place, bless her. It doesn't help that her older brother, Ben, is also going through puberty.... fireworks fly in our home at an alarming rate at the moment!

A triolet is a poem of only eight lines with a rhyme scheme abaaabab. The fourth and seventh lines are the same exact line as the first. The eighth line is the same exact line as the second.
