Tribute to my long gone spouse (free verse)

Your Honeysuckle Scent

Your love was as sweet
as the honeysuckle scent
on each foggy, dewy morn.
When you were plucked
from the vine of our love divine
the sweetness of you I then did miss.
You were the sweetest fragrance
that filled the still morning air
I turned to look and I  found
you were no longer there.
Time's taken some of the pain
and I know I'll see you again.

My dear husband Wayne has been gone now for over 22 years and I still miss him dearly. He was the wind beneath my terribly broken wings and made me into the strong person I am today. This kind of love cannot always be found, so I know I was blessed that God gave him to me.
