Sweet Sixteen

by June Sargent

Beside the lilac bush we kissed
as stars lit up the spacious sky
with Little Dipper shining bright
The air was warm - without a breeze
With door wide open Mom could see
beyond the fir tree where we hid
Her rules were never flexible
So...how do we present our case?
