Discovering what my name means to me.

What's in a name?

by pbomar1115

Early in life, I thought what did my name mean. It never occurred to me what it meant until I looked at the design on tv. I was so into those tv characters whose personality went side by side their name. For instance, an Asian girl name might mean Lotus Flower. An American Indian chief name might mean Running Bull. Those meaning fit characters even if I couldn't remember or say their name. But Phillip. Ah, I can't say it matches me right now. I looked it up for myself. The name came from the Greek name (Philippos) which means "friend of horses." Now, I like horses. I rode my first one while in the 6th grade on a class field trip to Laredo, Mexico. Before we crossed the border, we stopped in San Antonio. San Antonians exhibits an impressive Park called Breckenridge Park, covering over three hundred and forty-three acres, featuring many activities. That's where I had my first horse riding event. For mounting and riding one of those ponies, I had no trouble. Watching those cowboy movies at seven-year-old stuck.

Then in subsequent years, I had the pleasure of riding horses. It was tough getting a horse riding companion. Other than a former friend, no one I knew liked horses. In the same mold, I rode until the stables moved out of the city. Business profit an increase in the neighboring municipalities of Dallas. Landowners rent stables to only house your horse if you owned one. I do not own a horse. Whether my name rings dedicated to who I am, I can't answer. Now, today, finding a companion to experience my "Love of horses" is a hurdle for me. I don't have an automobile. Otherwise, by now, rejecting the name Philippos may not be fitting.
