A Poem

by toz666

At the place where the river deepens
As it churns the softer ground
Foraging fish in clear, pure water
Dart and dive their way around

I cast my line into the melee
Fish came greedily to my bait
A swift, slippery silver salmon
Bit as I reeled and felt it's weight

The struggle between life and death
The battle between water and air
There could only be one winner
Fishing isn't mean't to be fair

I cast and caught, reeled and wrought
A shiny feast of wriggling fish
That night we'd grill and eat our fill
Of the most deliciously tasty dish
