Ah, the dreams we had

Baby Boomer's Lament

by victortouche

So...so you think you can tell
heaven from hell-
blue skies from pain

I lived
when Nixon reigned
with Nam insane

When we would change...
all of the world

But, it's still the same
with age we've tamed

Now, it's your game
try not to blame

We rose as one,
we blazed brighter than sun

Raised our fists in rage,
let us out of our cage

We'll live without shadow of war
without need for more

than love of man
Yes...try that if you can

A new age of man
and we'll stand as one.

Recognized

Where did our youth go?
Where did our dreams, our hope,
our world of brotherhood...
sink in the sand?

A babyboomer.

The first stanza is from Pink Floyd's album "Wish You Were Here."
