Mother Nature Has Her Say

by Connie C

What's happened to this earth of ours?
Catastrophes now rule the day.
From hurricanes to floods and droughts,
our Mother Nature has her say.

Have we not shown her due respect
or have we realized too late
as humans that we do affect
our climate that we devastate?

Some argue there's no climate change
while ice caps melt and oceans rise.
If not too late, let's rearrange
priorities and be more wise.

When possible, forget your car
and walk or take the bus instead.
Recycle goods that clearly are
a chance to help us keep ahead.

Some progress we have made, it's true,
with scientists who warn us now.
Yet, there's still more that we can do.
Let's vow to make a change somehow.

This past year has been especially noteworthy with all the natural disasters that have occurred. If we can help make a change and it's not too late, then we must do so for the sake of our children and grandchildren.
