Why Not Pull Up A Blanket?

by poetsteve15

Why Don’t You Pull Up A Blanket?

Son, why don’t you pull up on this blanket
let me tell you about this old oak tree.
You see my grandpappy planted this tree
as a small sapling when his wife first made
this their home. They wanted a tree they could
sit under for shade on a warm summer day;
it has been in this family, now for four
generations. Now some home group
wants to take this tree out because
they say it is too big.
I say pull up a blanket, enjoy the shade
where it’s cool, have yourself a picnic with maybe
some fried chicken and potato salad. Yum, yum good.
The good Father told us to prune the bad branches off so
this old oak so it would stand for many more generations.
So, you see my grandson this old tree will be around
for a lot more years,
and it is now just the right size now for a cool shade

from a hot summer sun to set under.
The whole family now sets under this giant oak tree now.
