In the end, only the innocent shall remain

Innocent Salvation

by Christine Gabriel

"What do you think is going to happen?"

"I think they'll come for us, and..."

"And what?"

"It won't be anything like the media portrayed would happen."

"But they say..."

"The media only says what they want us to hear. They want us to be afraid."

"I am afraid."

"Why are you afraid Tabatha? We know nothing about them. They could be friendly for all we know."

"But the news said..."

"Let's be realistic. The news doesn't know anything more than we do. They only report what they see, and what they see they don't understand; therefore, they only give information that induces fear and panic."

"They'll be here soon, won't they?"

"Should we hide?"

"What will hiding do? Eventually they'll find us."

"At least we would have a shot at surviving."

"Surviving? You call that surviving? Obviously, they'd be smarter than us if they flew thousands of light-years to Earth."

"But what? We've been looking for alien life for years. Hell, most people believe the moon landing was nothing more than a low budget Hollywood film."

"Did you hear that?"

"They're here."

"I'm afraid."

"Don't be. I believe they're here for a good reason."

"The doorknob is turning!"

"Whatever is meant to happen, will happen."

"I don't want to die."

"Don't be afraid. We were put on this Earth for a reason. We're not going diminish into nothing. Please, just trust me."

"Dustin, look!"

Hush, let me handle this."

"We mean you no harm, alien."

"Please, don't hurt us, we mean you no harm."

"No harm shall come to you. You are innocent, and shall be protected."

"Yes, please don't hurt me or my sister."

"You speak English?"

"We are here to collect only the innocent humans."

"We are innocent, I swear. This is Tabatha, and I'm Dustin."

"The wicked shall remain and diminish with all the evil that has been created on this sad, dying planet."

"Please, we are innocent..."

"Only those who are innocent shall be given a chance to rebuild."

"I'm sorry Tabatha."

"Why is it so quiet? Are we dead?"

"I don't think so..."

"Is this heaven?"

"You both have innocence in your human hearts, therefore you have been taken to a place of peace to begin again."

"What does that mean?"

"It means we've been taken to a new world, so that we can start over."

"What about everyone else?"

"They have to stay behind in mass chaos while the Earth continues to die."

"So, we aren't going to die."

"No, but they will."

"It's so different here. Where are we?"

"We are home."

"Will they come back for us?"

"Only if we fail them."

"Now what?"

"We rebuild, and learn from our mistakes."

"I understand! Only the innocent shall remain."

"And we are innocent, so we shall remain to rebuild a world where they will never return again."
