A Need for Speed

Hot Coffee

I'm drinking
coffee
to try anew
to wake my thoughts
to change my view.

I seem to
need to
drink this hot pain
it burns and ends
my thirst again.

Why try to
wake up
those past things best
forgotten now
for I detest

my wish to
pretend
my need to be
someone who likes
and drinks iced tea.
