Horseshoe

Horseshoe it is
On our mantlepiece it sits
Rusted and aged and falling to bits
Some say it is a talisman
Empowered to bring good luck
Sunny Summer mornings many moons ago
How I loved to watch my smithy grandpa
On the anvil making sparks
Enshrined forever in our home and in our heart
