The Look of Worth

by Natali Holden

Never the most beautiful
Never the most athletic
Never the most accepted
Never the most of anything

But still I remember it
Thank you so much!
I was such a failure
My day was not looking good

And you shot me the look
No words
But I knew what you meant
It was all right

I would be okay
I had worth
I had never been worthless
And I never would be

I smiled
And I still remember it
I'll never forget your gift to me
The look that told me I was worth so much

Thank you!
I wish I had a way
To give you something back
But all I can say is thanks!
