Heartaches and Pancakes

by IndigoLady

Flapjacks flying through the air
Me, wishing you were here

Toddler topples gently to floor
Missing you more and more

Ominous prescience pervading my senses
Fear tearing down my defenses

Blustery billowing wind of winter's storm
Praying you'll come to no harm

Doorbell eerily echoing its sad refrain
Two uniformed men, bringing the rain

Sickening silent screams in my head
As these strangers tell me you're dead

Memorial musings of you awakes
Memories of the last time I made pancakes.

Writing Prompt
Sadness has overcome us all at one time or another. Either caused by a relative or close friend's death or from the girl or guy that broke our heart or just life in general. We all handle situations differently, some good, some bad. This contest gives us the ability to explore this. Your poem can also play into other emotions that are common to writing like this such as anger or depression.
