Autumn

by RodG

The red-haired maiden laughs
And dances through leaf-littered parks,
Preening at her artistry,
Well-pleased and proud.

She crimsons crowns of trees
And splashes gold amidst the boughs,
While touching up the weathered bark
With sticky sap.

She trims in chestnut flounce
These lawns, once lush and summer green,
Forewarning frost and Winter's breath
That comes too soon.
