A sixties story.

Bedsit Blues.

by jenintorre

Bedsit blues.
Weekends were bliss.
Partied all night.
Out on the piss.

Slept all day.
Ate beans from the can.
Only one spoon to wash.
Didn't give a damn.

Pigged out on paydays.
Spent like a jerk.
Then no money for bus fares.
Long walk to work.

Bedsit Blues.
Winters were bleak.
No coins for the meter.
No light, no heat.

Got me a plan.
Worked like a treat.
Wedged a spoon in the meter.
Bingo there was heat.

Oh happy days,
was warm and could cook.
Hot water in the bathtub.
What a stroke of luck.

But it didn't last long.
Got found out.
Ended up on the street.
Just a homeless lout.

No it didn't last long.
Got found out

No it didn't last long.
Got found out.
