Anticipation of Comfortably Numb

Intelligent Heart

by Nichola

Intelligent Heart
I care for others,
Share with others,
Meditate,
Emotionally,
Physically,
I do not think I could survive alone.

If I gave you a heart made of glass,
Would you carry it?
Would you steal it from me,
When I am not looking?

Cover my face with blood pulsing hands,
See my veins,
See my destiny,
I would like to keep my heart, so I can give
It away freely.

But, please, don't murder my heart.
It is what I have left in this world,
It keeps me alive, pumping life-giving cells
To and fro the heart.

My veins, my arteries,
They hear so many lies, so many truths,
Shocking truths to make one
Aloof.

Don't murder my heart,
It is not ready to die just yet.
It is not so old,
Not as old as you think.

Don't steal my heart,
It will only shatter into
Tiny shards of glass.

The day I stop feeling
Is the day I lose my heart and
Die. Don't murder my heart.

Stress is a funny thing. It creeps up on one, when one is not expecting it, then it slowly, ever so slowly increases, so that one is not really aware of the stress, when in actuality it is so bad, that it threatens to steal one's feeling, the very thing that makes us human.
Then there is the guilt of expressing anything but goodness and positivity.

Many Thanks to Bunkie for wonderfully expressive digital art.
