Turmoil

by Thesis

My torment is constant, both mental and physical.

I'm aware that I'm different, but to me it is who I am. I have the body of a man, but the mind and emotions of a woman. Why can't people let me be who I am? I need to change into the person that I was born to be.

I have been a prisoner in my own body. My hair is long, but my parents won't let me embrace or become the woman I truly am. It's surgery or suicide for me. I cannot go on living a lie another day!

The Prisoner writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
In 100 words, or less, write a short story--not necessarily a flash-fiction, though it could be--on the theme/subject/topic of 'prisoner'. It could be literal or metaphoric.

I've know several people who have gone through this turmoil, and I have felt terrible for their internal strife. It's a horrible position for anyone to be in. Some couldn't handle the stress and are no longer with us. Those that are, have flourished, embracing their new persona. I applaud them!
