God's Candles!

"To my mother and father"

Come walk with me by candle light, and we'll
see the goodness in our life.
Go with me to the altar, say,"I do,"
you shall become my wife.

We'll swim the green waters in the ocean,
make sandcastles on the shore.
When the high-tides take them forever,
we'll shovel up a dozen more.

We'll plant red roses in the garden, feed
the little bear and deer.
As our years creep away I'll whisper,
'sweet-nothings,' in your ear.

We'll sit in our rockers on the porch,
sing happy songs of old.
Then joining our hands together,
we'll kiss our bands of gold.

We'll watch the multi-colored rainbows,
kiss the green valley below.
As crystal flakes fall like fairy dust,
Children shall sleigh in the snow.
We'll climb to the mountain top, and
touch the Candles of God.
Then live with Him forever and ever,
like two snow-peas in a pod.

Growing up in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, my father and mother were "dirt poor" and yet, they always managed, 'to fill the cupboard with food, lamps with oil, stockings on the mantle shelf, and our hearts with the Spirit of Christmas.' They shall always, 'be etched in my heart.' This one's for you, 'my heroes!'
