When Depression hits

The House of Mad

by Anio

Do you know where the
Mad Mind lives?
Do you know at all?

Do you know where the
Sad Mind lives?
Do you know at all?

In places unseen by other
Minds
It wanders,
Mostly
Alone.

Then Fear
Attacks with gruesome
Force
That knocks you down -
So hard,
You wish that you were
Dead.

Then Panic comes a-
Slithering through
Smash-ed bits of glass -
That once were eyes and ears
A head -
It tinkles and it frightens you so much
You really think this is
The
End
For you.

Then escape present itself for you!
Red tunnels,
Sometimes black -
You dare not run straight into them -
You dare not turn your back.

You shut the door and pull your hood
As far as it will go -
But Jesus wept,
For e'en in there
The battle runs amok.

You don't believe
That one bright day
A hand will lift your hood
That dendrites and all other things
Are doing rather good.
You don't believe a word of it,
Though it's happened lots before,
You're just like Thomas -
Poking,
Poking,
At the wound,
Then poking just once more.

The insidious nature of depression and it's little mate the panic-attack.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
