After a big storm beauty abounds.

Winter-scape in Blue

Like starving wolves, the storm arrived,
wildly snarling through the night,
fangs ripping at the roof and eaves
ferociously till early light.

Then stillness filled the world outside,
a breathless sapphire-blue landscape.
Drifting snow draped fallow fields,
all artist-drawn with softened shape.

The turquoise sky, horizon met
as snow-globe shaken flakes still fell.
Stalwart thistles blue and brown
on leafless stalks stood in the dell.

The cabin on the blue-tinged knoll
seemed lost and stranded nestled there
until one spied the chimney smoke
now swirling, curling in the air.
