This work has reached the exceptional level
reflections of mistakes

Long days

by lalajovanoski

These days are long,
my eyes close and burn.
All these mistakes I've made,
when will I ever learn?

These days seem to drag
my soul to the floor.
I need this awful ache
released from my core.

These days turn to night,
and slowly my heart bleeds.
I'm longing for an escape,
from my disastrous deeds.

These nights are cold,
I shiver all alone.
Regretful and discouraged,
I turn to stone.

These days ahead,
seem very far away.
It's patience I'm learning,
in this shameful way.

I found this poem that I wrote back in 2006 when I was in jail for a DUI arrest. Thought I would share it. Thank you for reviewing.
